Maya Wrap, Inc. is pleased to announce that we are releasing for sale all Maya Wrap slings.
We voluntarily halted sales of our Maya Wrap slings after an incident occurred, questioning the strength of certain ones of our rings. October 1, 2007, Maya Wrap stopped selling slings with rings from a specific manufacturer. November 17, 2007 we announced that we would resume selling these slings except for those with a "flat M" on one or both rings. "Flat M" rings are only on some of the slings from lots 562-565. We chose to do additional testing on these rings, and those also met the stringent testing.
During the investigation, 1000s of rings were tested. All tested rings withstood a particularly stringent method of testing, without breaking, up to about 2 1/2 TIMES the maximum intended load of 35 lbs. for use of the Maya Wrap slings. Further, no rings broke when tested in an application more closely simulating normal use in a sling, but applying about 4 times the maximum intended load. Our slings can safely support a child up to 35 lbs.
Safety is a priority at Maya Wrap, Inc. and we appreciate your patience while we investigated this issue.
To ensure a reliable, continuous source of our rings, we have contracted with a new ring manufacturer and have completed pre-manufacture testing of our rings to be made there. Before delivery to us for use in Maya Wrap slings, rings are required to be manufactured and tested to 250 pounds.
